~ * 'LIVER me timbers' ? ! ~

"When we think of our liver, most of us think of alcohol and detox. Most people know that drinking alcohol in excess is bad for the liver; it has to work overtime to metabolise the alcohol and get rid of the toxic by-products. Yet THAT'S not all it does for us.

To look after our liver, we need to understand its other vital functions. It's been called our body's internal chemical power plant, converting nutrients in the food we eat into energy, breaking down hormones, producing clotting and immune factors, releasing bile to help digest food and absorb nutrients, filtering the blood and removing toxins."
