+ GOD's Time Clock +
"IT is a source of great joy to me to realize that God has taken the time and gone to the trouble to plan each one of my days, even before one of them had come into being. He chose the day I would be born, the family into which I would come, the husband whom I would marry. He even has written on His divine calendar the day of my death and everything that will happen in my life between now and then. What a delight to know that God cares so much for me!
THERE is one small problem, though, I cannot see God's calendar on which all of these appointments are recorded. Consequently, there are times I am impatient - impatient for the salvation of a loved one, impatient for the ending of a trial, impatient for that good thing that God has promised will come to fruition in my life.
LATELY, the Holy Spirit has prompted me to notice what the Scripture has to say about time. IN various books and several versions I have noted these phrases: in due season, in the fullness of time, at the proper time, in due time, in His times, at the appointed time, at the set time of which God had spoken and in His own time. My DESIRE is that the appointments God has set on my calendar be met in His own time. I am learning to say as the psalmist did, "I trust in you, O Lord; I say, 'You are my God.' My times are in your hands" (Psalm 31:14-15).
IT is safest and most rewarding to trust God's methods and to go by His clock." Joyce Carneff.
"All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:16)."

~ Broken Toes, Broken World !! ~
"TWICE in my life I've broken one of my little toes by colliding with furniture. Ouch! FOR days I limped painfully, my body protecting its tiny injured member. My body was doing exactly what it was designed to do. IT supported and sympathized with the part of me that was hurting. GRADUALLY my toe healed.
ALTHOUGH I'll never again take my toes for granted, I sometimes take for granted certain members of the church. Paul taught that the church is the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:12-27), not merely like the body of Christ. Each member has God-given abilities to support and sympathize with other members.
IF Christ's church is to function the way God designed it, there are three things we dare NOT do: (1) Refuse to fellowship. (2) Let fear and lack of Love cause us to withhold our gifts. (3) DISREGARD or OPPOSE the gifts of others through pride and envy.
INSTEAD, we need to be actively using our spiritual gifts to the benefit of fellow members of Christ's body. Only when we experience both the giving and receiving of Christ's healing-Love for broken members will we be ready to reach out to a broken world." - JEY.
"You are the body of Christ, and members individually ( 1 Corinthians 12:27)."

"Thank You, Lord, for a million little things, for parking places in the rain and lost things found and cakes that turn out okay.
"Thank You for lights that work and spare tires that still have air in them.
"Thank You for woolly lambs and for smiles with holes in them. Thank You for the warmth of fire, for music and for sweet words. How I Love words !
"Thank You for letters and for telephone calls that matter. Thank You for a million wonderful scenes stored forever in my mind's eye - scenes of sunsets, of ocean beaches sparkling in the sun, of redwood trees and brooks and river banks and a place called home.
"Thank You for people who sincerely Love and tell you and are NOT afraid to hug.
"BUT most of all, thank You for being there always and for allowing me to say, like Thomas, 'My Lord and my God."
May we always give thanks for everything, knowing that our Heavenly Father is pleased when we accept each situation as His will." Rosalind McNair

~ The Definitive DEVONSHIRE TEA ! (Kim's favourite Treat) ~
THE style of rich cream produced from the pastures of Devon (Britain) is responsible for the name given to that ever-so-slightly-lovely afternoon tea we know as Devonshire Tea !
The FORERUNNER of Devonshire Tea was Cream Tea . . . but, when it made the journey halfway around the world in the early 20th century, certain adjustments were made to enhance the pleasure: Scones became lighter and larger, cream became fluffier and more abundant and raspberry jam was used for the quintessential Devonshire Tea.
The word 'tea' does not necessarily dictate the beverage to be taken with your scones, jam and cream, but rather suggests the time of day at which it is traditional to pause for the respite.
DEVONSHIRE Tea can be enjoyed equally with a variety of beverages from tea and coffee to hot chocolate or your favourite libation. Enjoyment is paramount.
UNDOUBTEDLY in the 1920's, hospitality at Sherbrooke House was often accompanied by Devonshire Tea. Devonshire Tea is recognised as a specialty of The Dandenongs in Victoria; Australia.
THIS scone recipe has been used for more than half a century by a long-time hills resident, who often says to unexpected guests..."it will only take a few moments to pop in a batch of scones".
Sherbrooke House (*if it still exists ?/probably does.k.) prepares and bakes scones based upon the following classic recipe, although at Sherbrooke House the batches are somewhat larger.
The yield from this recipe is approximately 12 scones.
. 2 cups self-raising flour
. 1/2 teaspoon salt
. 2 tablespoons cream - for the lightness
. Water/milk mixture - enough to make a dough
PLACE dry ingredients in a bowl, then add cream and water/milk mixture until dough is a good kneading consistency. Turn dough out onto floured surface and gently flatten until dough is about 1" (2.5cm) thick. Use 2-1/2" (6cm) cutter to form scones and place onto a lightly floured hot oven-tray. Bake in a hot oven, near the top, for about 8-9 minutes, until browning begins. Serve while still warm.

~ Surrender Your Suffering ! ~
"WHILE it is natural to associate Christ's suffering solely with His cruel crucifixion and His death on the cross, there were other ways in which He suffered. His own family members often misunderstood Him and and withheld credibility until after His death.
LATER in His ministry, even after He had gained a following and some measure of popularity, most of the religious leaders treated Him with disdain and suspicion. THEY even plotted ways to ruin His ministry and to destroy Him. AT one point, many of His followers turned away and left Him.
AT the most difficult hour of Jesus' life, when hostility and hatred had reached their peak and the cross was before Him, His dearest friends failed Him. He had poured Himself into them for years, but when He most needed their prayer and loving support, they left Him.
FINALLY, He found Himself numbered among criminals as He came to trial and then was crucified.
As Christians, God has called us to suffer, and it is a high and holy CALLING. SUCH suffering binds us to Him.
ARE you suffering TODAY? IS it from loneliness, from misunderstanding or rejection? DID someone very dear to you fail you? DO not rail out against the offender? INSTEAD, embrace the suffering as God's will for you this moment. PRESS close to Him and allow the work of holiness to be perfected in your life." Yvonne Swope
"Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin (1 Peter 4:1)."

~ KNITTING a Scarfe ! ~
THOUGHT I'd share with you that I have been frantically knitting a scarfe. Am using two (2) lots of yarn together while knitting. One lot of yarn is of many pastel colours; the other, is one colour of bright indigo (blue). I like the contrast of opposite colouring applied together. Have been improvising the stitches with plain knit, purl, a stocking stitch and moss stitch. Am quietly enjoying knitting this.
The last scarfe I knitted was with a special wool that can easily be called "pom pom" or "snowball" and that is what it looks like when finished. A challenge !
Knitting scarves with yarn is fun and there is so much scope to choose from. I don't know how people knit strips of plastic together (the strips are usually cut from different commercial bread bags). It is very clever - in fact it is incredible.
It's amazing what can be done.
Cheers.k.

~ A Purpose ?? !! ~
"The old Westminster Confessions states that God is the Originator and Executor of "Whatsoever comes to pass." We know Him to be Sovereign in that what He purposes He brings to pass.
BUT what of the CIRCUMSTANCES that arise in our lives over which we have no control, such as the loss of a job due to the economy; an accident or death casued by a drunken driver; the tearful announcement that a teenage daughter is expecting a baby or the shocking revelation that a son has been caught using drugs? HOW can God work His purpose for our good in these circumstances?
Benjamin Warfield in his Biblical Doctrines states: "In the infinite wisdom of the Lord of all the earth, each event falls with exact precision into its proper place in this unfolding of His eternal plan; nothing, however small, however strange, occurs without His ordering, or without its peculiar fitness for its place in the manifestation of His glory, and the accumulation of His praise."
His divine plan for us is "not because of anything we have done (or our circumstances) but because of His own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time" (2 Timothy 1:9).
WHEN we seek His divine purpose in all of our circumstances, we can praise Him in the valleys of despair as well as on the pleasant mountaintops." Helen Young
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28)."

~ * TIPS for a "best Slice" recipe ! ! ! ~
* BE accurate with measuring !
* WHEN using the "creaming" method (to prepare the slice), always cream the butter before adding the sugar (of your choice). THIS incorporates more air in the mixture, increasing the lightness of the product !
* SLICES are cooked when they come away from the sides of the tin and if the recipe is of a pale constitution, then the colour is also golden. (CAKE-based products are cooked when they are "springy" to the touch and a skewer comes out clean when inserted in the centre.)
* Do NOT overcook slices; they harden when cooling !

ADVENT LIGHT . .
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God . . . The Word became flesh and lived for a while among us (JOHN 1: 1, 14)".
ADVENT LIGHT By Ernestine M. Schindler.
"When I felt the plodding rhythm of a depressed mood
that a minor musical key often creates, I realized that an
old hymn, originally recorded
in Latin during the ninth century, was pacing through
my head at a plod of a 4/4 beat. The song:
"O Come, O Come, Emmanuel!"
Outside my window, repetitive
rain drips . . . . . . . . and
I know that the miracle of the
Son is trying to renew His joy
and love of re-creation in me
and in you. "Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
shall come to thee, O Israel!"
* N.B. Emmanuel/meaning "GOD with us."
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God . . . The Word became flesh and lived for a while among us (JOHN 1: 1, 14)".
ADVENT LIGHT By Ernestine M. Schindler.
"When I felt the plodding rhythm of a depressed mood
that a minor musical key often creates, I realized that an
old hymn, originally recorded
in Latin during the ninth century, was pacing through
my head at a plod of a 4/4 beat. The song:
"O Come, O Come, Emmanuel!"
Outside my window, repetitive
rain drips . . . . . . . . and
I know that the miracle of the
Son is trying to renew His joy
and love of re-creation in me
and in you. "Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
shall come to thee, O Israel!"
