4oz butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
2 tablespoons golden syrup
1 egg
1 cup self-raising flour
pinch salt
1/2 cup chopped dates
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind/peel
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
PUT butter into saucepan, add brown sugar, cocoa and golden syrup.
STIR over low heat until combined.
Cool.
BEAT egg.
ADD remainder of ingredients.
Cook at 350deg.F. (180deg.C.) 20 - 30 minutes.
N.B. (* Cook in oven twenty (20) degrees less than the prescribed oven temperature always - if a/any recipe is NOT specifically mentioned for a fan-forced oven ! !)
