** PROCESSED Salt Versus SEA Salt !! **

Do you know that processed salt contains only three (3) minerals whereas Sea salt contains above seventy (70) minerals. (Salt is a substance not only used for seasoning but it's also used as a preservative.)

I know which salt I'll be "sprinkling" on my Dinner!

** MEANING of FOOD ? !! **

A piece of trivia.

FOOD is described in the 1974 'Collins' English Gem (pocket) Dictionary as being:
"food (-oo-) n. what one eats; solid nourishment; mental or spiritual nourishment."

My view exactly. Thought I'd share that with you.k.

* "TASTY" Carrot SALAD !! *

Ingredients:

6 Medium Carrots, peeled and grated.
1/2 cup Dessicated Coconut (try shredded?).
3/4 cup Currants.

Method:

Toss all the ingredients together. *If liked, serve in lettuce cups. THIS Salad does not require a dressing.

(B. Rittner)

** Everyday !! **

HAVE had quite an uncomfortable day today just struggling (with myself). *Am convinced, as I've been often before, THAT I wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for the Lord Jesus who is obviously caring for me in my life through His kindness, goodness, holiness, grace, creation, mercy, justice, compassion, salvation, work in redemption AND for renewing His patience and tolerance with me EVERYDAY. I very much "thank" Jesus (God) for all THAT !!!

* "TLC" !! *

"ONCE again this Summer, the Flowers in my Window Boxes have outdone themselves. The BIG, Red Geranium Blossoms are like individual Bouquets with deep, Green Foliage for a background. The Red, Pink and White Begonias were not to be eclipsed by the Geraniums and are just as lovely in their delicate beauty.

Passers-by on our back Country Road have admired the Flowers and given credit to my tender, loving care (TLC). Tender, loving care? Yes, but not mine. If they could have seen the dry, Brown, ugly-looking Geranium Stalks that came out of my Cellar this Spring. Only God's tender, loving care can bring such beauty from those lifeless, umpromising Stalks.

And so it is with us! .. He can make something beautiful of our lives if we allow Him."

RUBY WATROUS

"I tell you the truth, unless a Kernel of Wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single Seed. But if it dies, it produces many Seeds (*John 12:24)."

* "I BELIEVE IT" !! *

"Everything is possible for him who believes (MARK 9:23)."

"A friend of mine died today. IT had been some time since we talked and laughed over a hot fudge sundae or went shopping. I had not seen her for several days, and on that last occasion I had done all the talking. WHITNEY had been in a coma. BUT now she was gone - freed from her silent prison. I had honestly believed that she knew when I was there. I believed she was aware of things that were said and done. MOST of all, I guess, I believed that Whit was putting forth every effort she could.

NOW I am not sure. Had she really received the extensive brain damage they said she had? DID she just plain give up? But I want to believe that Jesus said, "LET'S go home. You've had enough." And I do believe it and believing it, I have peace.

*WHEN a dream dies or a relationship ends or a close friend passes on, we like to think there was a purpose. WE want to know all the reasons. We would like to have all our answers answered. SOMETIMES we strive and struggle and bend every effort. MAYBE we give up. MAYBE Jesus intervenes and says, "LET'S move on." I want to believe that God miraculously works in our lives. And I do believe it. And believing it, I am at peace." PAM BERTOLET

** 'Organic' !!!! **

Ate some home-grown Silverbeet tonight with my Dinner/"Tea". I MUST admit it was the best 'Green' I've ever eaten. Absolutely free from insecticides, pesticides and fungicides and with abundant flavour because my Husband grew it in our new Vegetable Garden. It really is superlative and I'm going to find it quite difficult in waiting for different freshly grown produce to mature!

* 'ENCIRCLED by Prayer' !!

'Lord things are really rough right now
But I know you're still at the bow
So much we don't understand
But Jesus, please just hold my hand.

Encircled by prayer
From friends all so dear
The peace you give
With nothing can compare.

Lord, help me not to look to far ahead
But simply just to trust instead.
And Lord you promised me today
That you will never go away
Please give me strength for each new day
Whatever comes along the way.

Lord, I know you'll bring me through
And I might learn afresh from you.
Then I can help with others too,
Those who are suffering
And don't know you.'

Apple chunks.
Celery chunks.
Lettuce pieces.
1/2 cup Walnuts (or Pecans?).
"Creamy" 'YOGHURT' Cucumber Dressing ( *see Recipe as is published in this blog)!

Bon Apetit.

** "More TIME" .. !!! **

"The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your need in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame (Isaiah 58:11)."

"WHILE I was still in elementary school, God let me know, through the lives of several missionaries, that He wanted me to serve Him in Africa. But just recently He gave me this verse in Isaiah with the renewed promise that even here in the African sun, He will guide me and those with whom I work and will give us daily strength.

He will also guide the women of this sun-scorched land to Himself that they too may know His love and presence in their lives - women like Esther.

Esther grew up close to a strong Christian church. She attended services regularly, gave herself to the Lord early in her life but remained weak and insecure in her attitiude toward serving her God. She was willing to stand behind someone but fearful of leadership. When asked, "Will you teach a Bible class? Lead a women's group?" she replied, "No, I can't."

Through special courses, however, Esther became involved in studying the Word. As she would come with new ideas and plans for outreach, we told her, "Great! Go and do it!"

She began to study more of God's Word and to spend more time in His presence in prayer! Now she leads the largest women's group in Libreville church. She counsels many women each week and is daily serving her God and His people here in Gabon. Esther is a woman who walks in His presence and knows that God is with her.

DO you have the assurance that the Lord is guiding you and daily strengthening your frame? You may if you spend daily time in His presence." RUTH BOWMAN

* * ~ HOME Hints ! ! ~ * *

*** "IF I did NOT have MS" ? !!! ***

IF I didn't have MS I wouldn't be blogging and certainly wouldn't have met the people I have met, foward together in that way. It has been well timed. HAVING Multiple Sclerosis has opened up a "whole new world" (as it is said) by carrying me to new productive opportunities.

THOUGHT I'd write down what I believe because isn't belief what life is about? WHAT do you believe about that question? What do you believe at all? CONFRONTING, isn't it?

My life journey isn't over yet (like those who continue in life) and I'll continue to learn along life's pathway until the day I pass from this current world. REGARDLESS of peoples' opinions, I wouldn't be obliged to have it any other way.kim.

** Growing !! **.

Am sitting here right now! I'm tired and as usual tending to "push it" even though I'm still trying to pace myself. Hmmm, think I've heard THAT word 'pace' before !
My GP phoned me today to say that I need to go on a course of Medicine. Have started that tonight. MS is not just insidious, so is living life. THERE are many people and we are all different and as has been said before, "wouldn't life be dull, if we were all the same". IT does make living interesting. I suppose it has to be different; "tailor-made" for each, otherwise, how would we grow as learned beings. We do have that responsibility to ourselves.

I haven't got much else to say for the moment except I'm going to be "kind to myself" (there's nothing wrong with doing that) and close this Laptop in a few minutes AFTER replying to a friend to say "yes, I will come to lunch".
* Continue to progress.k.

** 'STRENGTH through TRIALS' ! ! **

"But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold (Job 23:10)".

"I had just listened to my friend Linda's sad story. A young man seemed to like her. They worked in the same office, and he often stopped by to visit, watched for her arrival and spent as much time as he could over lunch break and after hours talking with her.

Then suddenly it all stopped. She could not think of anything she had said to offend him. He did not act as though he disliked her; he just had excuses for leaving early and no longer sought out her company.

Most of us at some time have been on the receiving end of that kind of pain and have felt as Linda. Her pride prevented her from asking him what happened or from causing a scene. She probably wished she could throw herself at him, burst into tears and accusations and beg him to like her again. INSTEAD, she waits in silence.

I doubt that this young man will come back to Linda. She has no claims on him. In a few weeks, she will recover from the hurt and shame and will go on with her life. BUT how sad if she does not grow from this bitter experience.

The other day I saw a poster of a winter scene. A bare, black tree stood alone in a canyon with icy white mountains behind it. The caption: "Do not pray for an easy life. Pray to be a strong person."

These wintry blasts can break us, or they can help to make us strong. Pray that God will make you a stronger person".

* Easy BANANA "Pikelets" (small PANCAKES) !! *

MAKES 12.

1 cup Wholemeal flour.
1 small Banana mashed.
Squeeze of Lemon juice.
1 teaspoon grated Lemon rind.
Enough low-fat milk to make a dropping consistency batter.
(VERY light sprinkling of Raw sugar or Stevia, if desired.)

COMBINE all ingredients and stir in milk. HEAT a non-stick skillet (*or preheat with a pre-cut piece of Baking Paper lightly sprayed with Olive Oil having already been inserted into the base of the skillet/frypan - this is also good for when the non-stick surface has been scratched!) and drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto it. AS bubbles appear on top of each Pikelet, turn over so the bottoms are brown. REMOVE from Pan and continue until all the mixture is used. SERVE topped with slices of Banana drizzled with Lemon juice to prevent them turning brown/oxidising. (VERY light sprinkle of Stevia or Raw sugar, if desired. Serve immediately!) J. Stafford

** FORGET the failure .. learn to DRIVE !!! **

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on towards the goal (Philippians 3:13).

The teenage girl was learning to drive. While backing out of a grocery store parking lot, it happened. She scratched another car. Compounding the shock of having an accident in her first month of driving was her father's insistence that she help him find the car's owner. Would you believe it belonged to one of her teachers? After the situation was explained, apologies given and addresses exchanged, the girl vowed she would never drive again.

BOTH teacher and father disagreed and marched her outside, put her in the driver's seat and told her to drive home. That moment of getting back into the car and continuing her driving practice was the point of victory. She had to forget the failure and go on if she ever expected to learn to drive. That girl loves to drive now, but the story might have been quite different.

We all fail, and some of us fail more dramatically than others. We can become so defeated and discouraged that we waste precious time kicking ourselves and grumbling about our mistakes.

The enemy delights in defeating us. Imprisoned by our self-reproach, we become non-productive. Victory comes in forgetting failure and pressing forward. Failure is meant not to bind but to teach. Let us let go of our errors and reach out for His enablement.

*** ~ 'Splendid' PLAN for Shopping !!! ~ ***

* WITH Christmas IN MIND .. Start making lists (gifts, groceries and tasks) as early as possible!

* PAY attention to Sale items in the months/weeks? before December (or whenever) and buy a few things each time you're out rather than all at once.

* SHOP (in air-conditioned shopping centres) at the coolest time of day and when you are most alert.

* TAKE regular breaks and/or consider using a scooter available for loan in large shopping centres if fatigue is a significant issue.

* KEEP your fluid-intake (preferably Water) adequate!

* CONSIDER shopping online. There are a number of sites from which you can buy vouchers or gifts and they will wrap and deliver. Some charities also sell great gifts and merchandise online.

* IF you have difficulty wrapping gifts, consider purchasing from organisations that offer gift-wrapping with purchases. There are also some very affordable boxes, *OR try wrapping parcels in foil - no scissors or tape required!

* SIMPLIFY your present options by considering a Kris Kringle arrangement with family/friends, or choose a theme and buy each person a variation on the theme (e.g. different-coloured socks).

* START writing on a few cards each week for the next few weeks/months, or consider typing a newsletter to insert rather than writing individual messages.

** CONTACT MS Connect for a copy of the 'Beat the Heat' fact sheet.

* COMMUNICATE with family members and friends about what your needs are during Christmas and over the holidays (or whenever necessary). FOR example, explain how important it is to get/be organised early to avoid the repercussions of stress and invisible symptoms such as fatigue! (IF you need to attend/have more than one event on Christmas Day, arrange the times so that you can schedule in a rest-break and let others know that this is what you will be doing. This will help to avoid conflict and disappointment.)

* DON'T forget - if you don't have relatives to visit, CONSIDER spending some time in Respite for rest, relaxation and company. IT'S important to book in early. *CONTACT 'Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres' - 1800 052 222 or www.commcarelink.health.gov.au .

Programs such as FlexiRest (funded by the NSW Government) provide options to families and unpaid carers of people with MS to help meet their respite needs. To find out more about this or other respite services in Victoria and the ACT, contact MS Connect.

* ALTERNATIVELY, stay CONNECTED using the online 'Peer Support Communities' (mc2). VISIT: www.mssociety.org.au/peer-support-online.asp .
MAKING contact with a friendly voice who knows what you're going through (Peer Support Volunteer) can be very helpful.

** Free DVD ! **

The latest resource for people recently diagnosed with MS is a free DVD titled Understanding MS. *For a copy of this free DVD, please contact MS Connect on 1800 042 138 (toll free).

"The DVD seeks to remind people newly diagnosed with MS that they are not alone," adds Sandra Helou (Project Manager, Education Resources, who was responsible for the development of the DVD).

"This DVD will be a wonderful tool," reports one of the interviewees, Rob de Ridder. "I remember that when I was first diagnosed, I felt so alone. To be able to pop in a DVD and hear professionals and other people with MS talk about MS in terms of reality and facts will help people to reallise that they can still live a fruitful life and contribute to family, friends and the community. The DVD is inspiring and is something that would have helped me immensely in those first few months. I am proud to contribute to this resource from MS Australia - ACT/NSW/VIC." ('Intouch'.)

* COMPUTERS, "can't live with 'em .. can't live WITHOUT 'em" !! *

Q. HOW do computers make sweaters?
A. On the interknit (*some do need a cover, you know).

Q. WHY was the computer in pain?
A. It had a slipped disk!

Q. WHY was the computer so thin?
A. Because it hadn't had many bytes!

Q. 'IS that the computer help line?
A? Every time I log on to the Seven Dwarves website my computer screen goes snow white . . .'

CUSTOMER: 'I cleaned my computer and now it doesn't work.'
REPAIRMAN: 'What did you clean it with?'
CUSTOMER: 'Soap and water.'
REPAIRMAN: 'Water's NEVER mean't to get near a computer?'
CUSTOMER: 'Oh, I bet it wasn't the water that caused the problem . . . it was when I put it in the spin dryer!'

** Disability ? !! **

I hate having a disability. It's at war with my members (parts of my body). What do I do? Cry. I've done that, time and time again...but,
" ... God says, " 'My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor your ways My ways,' says the LORD. 'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts' " (Isaiah 55: 8-9). ...

God's promises are not given to all, but to everyone who is willing to seek and trust Him. Isaiah reminds us to seek Him on His terms. ...

The whole Bible makes it clear that God promises to be found only by those willing to surrender to Him. This important condition of surrender is what Jesus taught when He said, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God" (Matthew 5:8). He said this immediately after saying, "Blessed are the poor in spirit . . . . Blessed are those who mourn . . . . Blessed are the meek . . . . Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness . . . . Blessed are the merciful" (vv.3-7).

Each of these conditions reflects the need for a surrendered heart as a condition to receive the blessing of God. ...

Salvation itself is a gift. Forgiveness and eternal life come to us only by grace and through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). But seeing God in the Bible requires a willingness to do the will of God. Only in surrender do we have assurance that God will let us see the truth about Christ in our present circumstances. Only in submission can we see the Father and His Son on every page of Scripture".

* "QUITE often JUST talking about HOW you feel .. " !!

Quite often just talking about how you feel .. can be liberating. Trying to cope alone will only cause more stress and anxiety. IF you don't feel like talking to family and friends, consider making contact with an MS Australia - ACT/NSW/VIC Peer Support Volunteer. You can ask to be matched with someone who is in similar circumstances and will understand how you are feeling. Call MS Connect on 1800 042 138 or email msconnect@msaustralia.org.au to find out more.

WHEN your'e heading out and about, peace of mind about your current circumstances will make all the difference. CONSIDER calling ahead to your Destination - Restaurant, Hairdresser, Shops - to ensure there are adequate facilities!

The National Public Toilet Map shows the location of 14,000 public toilet facilities across Australia. The website,
http://www.toiletmap.gov.au/ , (or phone 1800 990 646), provides a Trip-planner and the capacity to plan toilet breaks for short and long journeys. You can search for toilets by Postcode, Town or Suburb, or near specific addresses and locations. ACCESS to the toilet map is available from compatible Mobile Phones, and a new Toilet Map application can be downloaded for iPhones.

People with a *disability can also purchase their own 'universal' key from their local Member of the Master Locksmiths Association to access some public toilets.

* Master Locksmiths Association - http://www.masterlocksmiths.com.au/ or phone 1800 810 698 - for a 'universal' key to public toilets. *Those with mobility difficulties and/or those who have written Authority from a Doctor, a Disability Organisation, a Local Council or Community Health Centre, or the Centre Manager or Owner of a Building with an accessible toilet on site, may be eligible for a 'universal' key.

(Often people with bladder problems/inconsistencies try to drink less for fear of urinating too frequently. This can make matters worse and result in constipation. In addition, urine becomes concentrated and irritates the Bladder, causing more frequent "passing of water". It's important to drink 1.5 - 2 litres of fluid everyday (preferably Water), even if you have bladder problems/inconsistencies.)

* "NO MISTAKES" .. . *

Went to my GP today for a blood-pressure check-up as I've had fluid retention. All is okay.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).

"My Father's way may twist and turn,
My heart may throb and ache;
But in my soul I'm glad to know,
He maketh no mistake.

My cherished plans may go astray,
My hopes may fade away;
But still I'll trust my Lord to lead,
For He doth know the way.

Though night be dark and it may seem,
That day will never break,
I'll pin my faith, my all, on Him;
He maketh no mistake.

There's so much now I cannot see,
My eyesight's far too dim;
But come what may, I'll simply trust,
And leave it all to Him.

For by and by the mist will lift,
And plain it all He'll make;
Through all the way, though dark to me,
He made not one mistake".

* "REST-BREAK" !!

HAVE been booked into Respite at Ocean Grove before Christmas. Am quietly looking forward to attending. There will be other Women there with similar conditions as myself. It will be a "learning curve" apart from a much-needed restbreak.

Had been to "respite" in Melbourne earlier this year and would heartily suggest it as profitable for ongoing obtained benefit. There are a few places that can secure accommodation for just that cause. We all need our "breaks", regardless of the challenges we personally face before life's mural.

CONTACT whatever organisation you may be associated with and inquire regarding possible "respite" and how to astir (move out in excitement) to acquire it. We are so fortunate that we have these specific localities (*they have been attractively described as being 'scenes of events') that can give support.

May I say Bon Apetit?

* 'EVERYDAY involvements' .. !! *

"Who for the joy set before him endured the cross" (Hebrews 12:2).

"As a Christian woman I am being called to a life of continual surrender in the everyday involvements of motherhood. At times it has brought about genuine crisis in my life and required me to lay aside my will, my rights, my time and even my priorities. It is in these very challenging times, however, that God has met me through His Word, encouraging me on in the joy of surrender.

One of the most recent examples God has used to reinforce this principle of surrender has been Abraham, who, with Sarah, faced many crises. The first of these crises was the call to leave their homeland, family and friends and go to a destination God would show them. What an encouragement to see the principle of surrender result in God's approval and blessing.

Then later, in the separation from Lot, Abraham had every "right" to choose first. He chose, however, to rest in the faithfulness of God and to surrender his right.

The highest call to surrender in Abraham's experience was God's command concerning Isaac. It was almost unthinkable. This was his only son. How could he surrender him back to God through sacrifice? Yet, expectantly, he proceeded toward that critical moment of surrender. Just as he was about to plunge the knife into Isaac, God provided a substitute. Victory through surrender!

*Let us thank the Lord for His example, for His surrender, for new opportunities to trust Him". JUDY CHAPMAN

* LIFE IS A GIFT !!! *

"For this child I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my petition . . . As long as he lives he shall be lent to the LORD" - 1 Samuel 1: 27-28.

"When I was 8 years old, a classmate died. At the funeral service I pictured him "safe in the arms of Jesus." This comforted me and made death less fearsome.

The same year, a 5-year-old neighbour boy died, and I became very aware of the grief of his parents. They were crushed and actually seemed angry. It was clear to me that they felt death had robbed them of what righfully belonged to them.

It's understandable that we go through a time of questioning and even anger when someone we love dies. But we need not stay there. Instead of viewing life as a posession, we need to view it as a gift.

Pastor John Claypool and his wife saw their 10-year-old daughter die from leukemia. He said they found peace when they saw that their daughter's life was "a gift - a pure, simple, sheer gift - to be received and handled with gratitude."

In our Bible reading for today, we learn that it was because Hannah viewed her son's life as a gracious gift that she was able to give him back to God (1 Sam. 1: 27-28).

We too would do well to make sure we view life as a gift, not a posession. That attitude will increase our appreciation for life and lessen our anger at death." HVL

Lord, "thank You" for the gift of life and all that You have given . . . Sper.

LIFE IS A GIFT FROM GOD TO BE GIVEN BACK TO GOD.

(* a piece of trivia - the spelling of the name Hannah - with an "aitch" at the end; is the same when spelt backwards.)

** YOU, Lord !!! **

"Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure" (Psalm 16:5).

"You, Lord. Do we fully comprehend the beauty of this relationship? Almighty God, Creator, Alpha and Omega, is our Lord. "You have assigned me" This great God has taken our position in life as a serious matter of concern! He has gone so far as to assign our cup. God's beautiful plan for our lives is completely known to Him.

"But," we complain, "my cup is not as glamorous as another's. My portion is bitter." Remember, God assigned that which comes to us. If He assigns, then He also equips!

For 12 years, I have been a missionary to Japan - a culture far different from that of the West. Although outwardly Western, Japan is inwardly very Eastern. Life here for me has been a perfecting process. I have cried more, hurt more and been more burdened during this missionary journey than in any other time of my transient life. My portion and my cup have been assigned. I know beyond any doubting that the perfecting process, though often slow, is taking place.

The psalmist goes on, "You have made my lot secure." Since our Lord has assigned us, we may rest perfectly secure. Whatever is poured into our cup comes from His boundless love's supply. What a source of comfort, healing and strength this knowledge gives.

Neither shrink in the face of trial or suffering nor be carefree in the face of blessing. Your cup and portion have been assigned, All has come to you from your Father's loving hand." JANICE KROPP

* "Hi, dear Diary .. " (this MAY well be my final posting on this blog) !

Hi, dear Diary,

Haven't been particularly well over the past fortnight. * Have been challenged and am being challenged as to how I handle my health problems. Not much fun I must confess, but believe, as it's said, "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger"!

SERIOUSLY trying to engage if it's worth pursuing a/this blog in the near future - or in any of my current future. IS it valuable to continue? I certainly need to put specially efficacious guidelines in place if I want to redeem any personal stamina. Multiple Sclerosis is insidious. Have been very lethargic - more than normal for Multiple Sclerosis (been so "up and down") and have had the appropriate blood-tests that there are to have. Feel as though I'm "burn't out"!

"Indy" Cat is keeping me company at the moment which is a nice thought. She's loyal and faithful.

I'm embracing her gentleness (if she was human, her soothing; courteous nature would contribute to her being called a Gentlewoman). It's good having quiet times.

Time will tell,

Kim.
